Ham and White Bean Soup

Introduction

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beans
    Drain and rinse the soaked beans. Set aside.
  2. Sautรฉ the Vegetables
    Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, and celery. Cook for 5โ€“7 minutes until softened.
  3. Add Garlic and Ham
    Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the ham and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Simmer the Soup
    Add beans, broth, thyme, bay leaf, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 1ยฝโ€“2 hours, or until beans are tender.
  5. Season and Finish
    Remove bay leaf. Taste and adjust salt if needed. Garnish with parsley before serving.

  • If using a ham hock, remove it after cooking, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.
