Southern Fried Shrimp Recipe

Introduction

Instructions

  1. Prepare shrimp
    Rinse shrimp and pat completely dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix wet coating
    In a bowl, whisk eggs with milk or buttermilk.
  3. Mix dry coating
    In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne.
  4. Coat shrimp
    Dip shrimp into egg mixture, then dredge thoroughly in seasoned flour-cornmeal mix. Press gently to coat well.
  5. Heat oil
    Heat oil to 175โ€“180ยฐC (350โ€“360ยฐF).
  6. Fry shrimp
    Fry shrimp in batches for 2โ€“3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain & serve
    Remove shrimp and drain on paper towels. Garnish with parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges.
