Introduction

For the Pasta:

  • 12 oz (340g) spaghetti
  • Salted water for boiling

Instructions

1. Prepare the Meatballs:

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 1โ€“1.5 inch meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Brown meatballs on all sides (they donโ€™t need to be fully cooked yet). Remove and set aside.

2. Make the Sauce:

  1. In the same skillet, add olive oil and sautรฉ onion until soft, about 3โ€“4 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  4. Return meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer on low heat for 20โ€“25 minutes until meatballs are fully cooked.

3. Cook the Spaghetti:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Drain and toss with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.

4. Serve:

  1. Plate the spaghetti and top with meatballs and sauce.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil and additional grated Parmesan, if desired.
